Product overview:
KE10024 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The IL1-alpha ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous IL1-alpha. The assay recognizes mouse IL1-alpha. A monoclonal antibody specific for IL1-alpha has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The IL1-alpha protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, a polyclonal antibody of biotinylated specific for IL1-alpha is added to detect the captured IL1-alpha protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Interleukin-1α (Il-1α) is a protein that plays a crucial role in the regulation of a number of key cellular processes. Il-1α is a cytokine and a potent mediator of body’s response to inflammation, microbial invasion, tissue injury and immunological response. In addition, recent studies suggest that Il-1α also has a role in wound healing, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease and tumor growth. Il-1α functions as an alarmin during the process of sterile inflammation. It serves as a signal from dying cells to potentiate the inflammatory response, increasing the expression of other secreted factors like IL-6 and IL-8. Il-1α was found to affect the cell cycle of osteosarcoma cell to reduce cell growth.
