Product overview:
KE00077 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The MMP-2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous MMP-2. The assay recognizes human MMP-2. A monoclonal antibody specific for MMP-2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The MMP-2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, a polyclonal antibody of biotinylated specific for MMP-2 is added to detect the captured MMP-2 protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450nm.

Storage Instructions:
All the reagents are stored at 2-8℃. Refer to the protocol for further storage instructions.

72 kDa gelatinase, 72 kDa type IV collagenase, CLG4, CLG4A, Gelatinase A, Matrix metalloproteinase 2, MMP 2, MMP II, MMP2, MONA, TBE 1

MMP-2 (also designated type IV collagenase) cleaves collagen types IV, V, VII and X and gelatin type I. Activation of MMP-2 secretion requires the Ras signaling pathway. It is ubiquitinous metalloproteinase that is involved in diverse functions such as remodeling of the vasculature, angiogenesis, tissue repair, tumor invasion, inflammation, and atherosclerotic plaque rupture. MMP-2 contributes to myocardial oxidative stress by regulating the activity of GSK3beta.
