  • Purity of recombinant human VEGF121 was determined by SDS- polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The protein was resolved in an SDS- polyacrylamide gel in reducing and non-reducing conditions and stained using Coomassie blue.

The EC50 was determined using a 4-parameter non-linear regression model. Activity determination was conducted in triplicate on a validated bioassay. The EC50 range is less than 15 ng/mL.

Background

This gene is a member of the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. It encodes a heparin-binding protein, which exists as a disulphide-linked homodimer. This growth factor induces proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells and is essential for physiological and pathological angiogenesis. Misregulations of this gene in mice result in abnormal embryonic blood vessel formation (PMID:10838264; 11329058).
