Cell-cycle progression is driven by orderly activation of many kinases including the DBF4/DBF4B-dependent S-phase promoting kinase Cdc7. Binding of Cdc7 to its subunit DBF4 or DBF4B (also known as DRF1/ASKL1) is thought to be a key regulatory event that controls Cdc7 activity in human cells.
