The FNIP1-FLCN complex has emerged as an amino acid sensor to the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), involved in how amino acids control TFEB activation. AMPK phosphorylation of FNIP1 induces lysosomal and mitochondrial biogenesis (PMID: 37079666)
