背景介绍

GCNA, also known as ACRC, belongs to the serine-aspartate repeat-containing protein (SDr) family. GCNA has remained tightly associated with sexual reproduction showing enriched expression within germ cells in both invertebrate and vertebrate species. GCNA has recently been implicated in resolving DPCs in germ cells and early embryos. GCNA is targeted to SUMOylated DPC proteins through its SUMO-interacting motifs (SIMs), reinforcing the importance of SUMOylation in DPC repair. The amino acid sequence homology of GCNA in humans and mice is very low. The calculated molecular weight of GCNA is 76 kDa. Sometimes higher molecular weight around 90 kDa can also be observed, which may be caused by SUMO modification (PMID: 31839537, 32329115).
