Background Information
PIAS3(E3 SUMO-protein ligase PIAS3) is a protein of 583 amino acid, has a molecular mass of 68 kDa and belongs to a family of proteins that includes several other members. PIAS3 is an inhibitor of activated STAT3 and binds microphthalmia-associated transcription factor, which is a key DNA-binding protein, in rat basophilic leukemia cells and mouse melanocytes. The PIAS3 antibody detects PIAS3 as well as its sumoylated form in some normal mouse tissues, breast and brain tumor cell lines.
