背景介绍
RBL2, also named as Retinoblastoma-like protein 2 or p130, is a 1130 amino acid protein, which Belongs to the retinoblastoma protein (RB) family. RBL2 is a Key regulator of entry into cell division and is directly involved in heterochromatin formation by maintaining overall chromatin structure and, in particular, that of constitutive heterochromatin by stabilizing histone methylation. RBL2 recruits and targets histone methyltransferases KMT5B and KMT5C, leading to epigenetic transcriptional repression and controls histone H4 'Lys-20' trimethylation. RBL2 probably acts as a transcription repressor by recruiting chromatin-modifying enzymes to promoters. RBL2 may act as a tumor suppressor.
