Background Information
POGZ, also known as MRD37, is a zinc-finger protein containing 9 C2H2 zinc fingers, a CENP-B (centromere protein-B) domain, and a DDE domain found in the bacterial transposase/retroviral integrase family. POGZ plays a role in mitotic cell cycle progression and is involved in kinetochore assembly and mitotic sister chromatid cohesion. POGZ plays a role in mitotic chromosome segregation by regulating aurora kinase B/AURKB activation and AURKB and CBX5 dissociation from chromosome arms. Heterozygous mutation of POGZ causes White-Sutton syndrome.
